What's better, asphalt or concrete?
Asphalt and Concrete are both excellent for paving a variety of applications, though some jobs are better suited for one or the other. So, asphalt or concrete? Here are some quick notes:
- Asphalt is popular in part because it tends to be cheaper than concrete, is relatively easy and cheap to install and maintain, as well as the great look of fresh blacktop and variety of applications it can be used for.
- Concrete is popular in part because of its superior strength and it generally needing less maintenance. Concrete also tends to have a longer lifespan than asphalt.

In short, it really just depends on the requirements and preferences for your project. Reach out to our expert Denver asphalt and concrete contractors to discuss your project and which material may be best.
Can you pave asphalt or concrete in the Winter?
With Denver's cold and snowy winters, this is a question we get a lot. The short answer is yes, but it depends on the weather. When air or ground temperatures are too low during paving and drying it can affect the quality of your pavement or simply be to cold to even mix and pave in the first place. Asphalt paving is particularly affected by very cold temperatures.
That said, if you follow some strict guidelines regarding weather (particularly air and ground temperatures) during the period of paving and drying, you can still get asphalt and concrete paving work done.

Is your work warrantied, licensed and insured?
Yes. We stand behind our work and want our customers to feel safe and secure in choosing us as their paving contractor. When you hire us for your asphalt or concrete job, you can rest easy knowing you're dealing with a licensed and insured paving company where all work is warrantied.
How long does asphalt pavement last? What about concrete?
Concrete is generally stronger than asphalt and can often boast a lifespan of 4-5 decades if it's paved and maintained properly.
Asphalt isn't quite as strong and long-lasting as concrete, though if it's paved properly in the first place and well maintained through it's lift it can still last an impressive 2-3 decades.
What does a good asphalt maintenance plan look like?
A good asphalt maintenance plan is crucial to maintaining the longevity of your pavement and preventing minor issues from turning into more expensive repairs or replacement. When asphalt is well maintained, it can last as much as 2 to 3 decades.
Here are a few tips for maintaining your asphalt parking lot, driveway or other surface:
- Regularly apply a sealcoat to your pavement. We typically recommend an initial sealcoat after your new pavement has cured (about 30 days after initial paving), and every 2-5 years after that.
- Repair cracks regularly! Cracks are a relatively minor issue at first, but if not filled/sealed they can lead to greater deterioration resulting in more involved, expensive repairs.
- Patch large problem areas and potholes. When cracks in your asphalt are left unmaintained, they can lead to larger alligator crack areas or potholes which pose even greater risk if left unrepaired. The solution here is often to patch the entire problem area(s) before the pavement deteriorates beyond repair.

Do you offer parking lot striping?
We do offer parking lot striping, but only as part of a paving or repair job. We don't do parking lot striping on its own.
If you hire us for asphalt parking lot repair or to pave/repave/resurface a lot, we're happy to stripe the lot once the paving work is complete.
How long to stay off new asphalt?
The short answer is that once fresh asphalt is laid down, the pavement is typically safe to walk and drive on in 2-3 days (48-72 hours). It's important to note that dry time and cure time are different and that you should still be careful with heavy machinery or damaging substances like oil on your new pavement for about 30 days while the pavement cures. After 30 days, we recommend an initial sealcoat to lock in necessary oils and moisture for the best chance at long-lasting pavement.
How long to stay off new concrete?
For average foot traffic, new concrete is generally safe to walk on after 24 hours of drying. After a week, concrete cures to close to it's full strength and at that point is safe for average vehicle use, though it still may be a good idea to avoid extra heavy use such as semi-trucks. After about a month, concrete generally will have reached its full strength potential and will be safe for most uses including heavy foot and vehicle traffic.
